For most of my life, I treated my anger like a confession. Something to examine, minimize, and put away before anyone noticed. When it arose, I turned it inward. I examined what I did wrong. How I could become more perfect. How I could stop triggering those behaviors in others, as if the problem lived in me. There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from spending years making yourself smaller so others feel more comfortable.

It took years of deep devotion to my own worthiness, my own sacredness, my love for myself, to understand something that changed everything:

My anger is not the problem. My anger is communication.

When anger arises, it carries information. It might be pointing to childhood pain that’s asking to be witnessed. Ancestral trauma looking to move through and be released. A place where I’ve been abandoning myself — where a boundary has been crossed or a boundary needs to be built. An injustice that is asking me to take action.

The root varies. But the truth is the same: our anger is sacred.

Society has taught us otherwise.

Angry women are labeled irrational, hysterical, hormonal, unstable. We are shamed for our anger. Condemned for it. And for women in marginalized communities, this silencing goes even deeper — layered and compounded across generations.

We are taught to suppress what feels too raw, too big, too uncomfortable for others. To tend to everyone else before we tend to ourselves.

And so we carry it. In our bones. In our DNA. In our energetic fields — the weight of generations of abuse, neglect, silencing, and pain that was never allowed to move through.

When anger rises in you, it is not only yours.

It belongs to every woman in your lineage who was told to stay small. Stay silent. Stay controlled. Stay submissive.

When you claim your anger, you claim your power. And theirs.

Anger is not here to control you. It’s here to inform you.

It can burn through what no longer serves. It can illuminate the path forward. And when you’re willing to sit with it long enough to listen, really listen, it becomes something extraordinary.

It becomes devotion.

Not the kind that requires perfection. The kind that says:

I am worth understanding. I am worth hearing. What lives in me deserves to be seen.

The question was never whether to feel your anger.

The question is what you do with it once you understand what it’s telling you.

Because yes — anger can become violence. It can become destruction.

But anger met with curiosity? Anger welcomed rather than suppressed? That anger alchemizes.

It becomes movement — dancing, running, walking, cleaning, taking action in the world.

It becomes art — writing, painting, pottery, building, drawing.

It becomes community — honest conversations, held space, showing up for the people and causes that matter to you.

It becomes clarity — journaling, meditating, somatic practice, the deep rest that is its own kind of revolution.

You will know what form it wants to take. That’s the gift of listening first.

The more you welcome your anger, the lighter it becomes.

Because it is no longer a secret. No longer something locked away in the dark, waiting to erupt or implode.

When anger moves through you — when you offer it a body to inhabit and a direction to move toward — it transforms.

It becomes connection.

Connection to your body. Connection to your mind. Connection to your community. Connection, most profoundly, to your own soul.

This is what it means to live as a love letter to yourself.

Not the pretty parts only. All of it. Even the anger. Especially the anger.
